Wiggle started out as Butlers Cycles, a small independent bike shop established in Portsmouth, UK in 1920. In 1999, Butlers Cycles went online with the launch of wiggle.co.uk.

By focusing on providing unmatched value and great customer service, Wiggle rapidly took off in the UK and soon began expanding around the globe. We have now grown to become a global leader in the online retail of equipment for cycling, running and swimming, selling to over 70 countries in 10 languages and 14 currencies.

We occupy over 85,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space and stock over 2 million items!

Automation Tester

Job Title: Automation Test Engineer

Location: Portsmouth

Wiggle CRC has an exciting opportunity for an Automation Test Engineer to join their IT department on a permanent basis! If you’re looking for a rewarding career with a vibrant company, please read on.

What will I be doing?

As a Mid Test Automation Engineer you will develop and maintain test automation with the goal of protecting live production services from technical changes. You will also support the development and release team in automating changes both at the release and development change level.

  • Test Automation (C# primarily. Experience of Ruby/Watir/Selenium would be beneficial)
  • To build and maintain full test coverage of platinum and gold level services
  • Build automation in line with expected project changes
  • Maintain a 100% automation pass rate when no identifiable defects are present
  • Help to resolve the root cause for any test failures and handle appropriately to prevent the same failure in the next run
  • Input into increasing width and depth of automation testing in line with prioritisation
  • Help to incorporate all other BAU changes into the automation suites where it may have an impact
  • Work towards reducing risk to live deployments to maintain an SLA of 1 failed deployment a month from missed software defects.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Great test automation testing skills, ideally in C#
  • Great exploratory testing ability
  • Good experience of working in Agile teams
  • Ability to collaborate directly with developers and business stakeholders to define requirements

Beneficial skills:

  • Experience of BDD approaches to software development

What will you be doing?

As part of the Delivery team you will engage in the delivery of both strategic and small changes to the Wiggle systems. The scope of work incorporates all infrastructure, applications and customer-facing websites.

You will also…

  • Work with business teams to identify, understand, prioritise and document business requirements, systems impacts and acceptance criteria.  Collate and analyse performance data to ensure informed decisions.
  • Investigate operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.
  • Assist in the analysis of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems and identify options for consideration.
  • Work iteratively with stakeholders, to identify potential benefits and available options for consideration, and in defining acceptance tests.
  • Support the development team to write scenarios / user stories / acceptance tests, agree work packages / sprints and produce estimates.
  • Identify any business readiness tasks required to support delivery.
  • Verify and accept the delivered work packages ensuring the development fulfils the business requirements.  Provide support to the test team and business teams to complete functional and acceptance testing.
  • Prepare the handover of products to the business and support teams through showcases and by documenting any business processes changes and producing user guides.
  • Track and report on task progress.
  • Take part in any ad hoc project work improving the performance of the business as and when required.
  • Investigate, identify and present where appropriate, new technologies or processes that will enable the business units to deliver their strategic goals.

Who are we looking for?

  • Demonstrate experience of working in a Business Analyst role, preferably within the retail industry, specifically ecommerce channels.
  • This role will operate as part of a small team, so you must be willing to get involved in the full project life cycle and be passionate about ensuring delivery is of the highest quality. 
  • Experience of working within an Agile / Scrum project environment is desirable.
  • Ability to translate complex business problems and requirements into well written, concise user stories that can be read and understood by business owners, developers and testers alike.
  • You will have a good eye for detail and be able to demonstrate the ability to produce clear, concise, well supported documentation.
  • You will have experience of working on multiple projects concurrently and be able to manage the priorities within your workload.
  • Experience of managing 3rd party suppliers would be beneficial.
  • Ability to be flexible with work duties and hours as required by the team and business, and able to attend other sites for which travel may be required. A small amount of travel may be required.

What will you be doing?

  • Own the tone of voice and brand guidelines, ensuring that all brand activity reflects the brand positioning.
  • Lead the Wiggle Trade Plan and CRC flat plan for dhb.
  • Support the marketing manager with the delivery and measurement of multi-channel marketing communications in line with the dhb marketing activity planner.
  • Lead the creative execution of seasonal photoshoots, working closely with the dhb and Fohn design teams. Manage the delivery of all marketing assets
  • Providing the International Country Managers marketing assets for activity in key international territories.
  • Assist with the strategy for dhb social media channels and manage content creation.
  • Support the marketing team in the PR activation plan, taking responsibility for campaign toolkits and product training.
  • Own the dhb product pages for Wiggle and CRC. Use insight to optimise these seasonally.
  • Use copywriting skills to create engaging, informative and persuasive product page and blog content.
  • Work with ABM to conduct on-going competitor analysis and market reviews to provide insight to the business to support product development and brand communications.
  • Understand the dhb consumer; support the dhb marketing team in building consumer and customer understanding; champion this insight into the brand planning and brand communications, ensuring that the consumer is at the heart of all marketing activity.
  • Work closely with the WiggleCRC insight teams to understand, monitor and measure change in customer behaviour.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • A curiosity to understand consumers and customers, and a passion to meet their needs.
  • A passion for developing brand marketing campaigns, particularly in digital.
  • Experience in creating social media content.
  • Understands the importance of brand strategy and guidelines.

What will you be doing?

As a Senior Developer you will design, create, test and document new and existing software components from supplied specifications. Project change may require the introduction of new Wiggle systems, enhancements to existing systems and integration with 3rd party systems.  You will lead a small squad of 3-4 developers within the backend development team.

Who are we looking for?

  • Experience of leading development teams to deliver software change and being responsible for delivery of collaborative package of work
  • Development frameworks: Microsoft .Net 4.x with C#
  • Web Technologies: Microsoft MVC 5, HTML5 and CSS, JavaScript and frameworks
  • Testing Frameworks: NUnit, Moq or equivalent
  • Data & SOA: Microsoft SQL Server 2012+, No SQL DB's (Raven, Redis or equivalent), ORM's, nServiceBus or equivalent
  • Industry experience of using best practices for code design (SOLID, design patterns) 
  • Awareness of API first design on platforms such as Mulesoft
  • Experience of developing on Azure PaaS would be beneficial
  • Competent in working in an agile environment, for example Scrum
  • Previous experience of working in a retail or eCommerce business on customer facing or back office systems would be advantageous

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the technical support & maintenance of the Wintel Server environment, monitoring and scripting within the LINUX sphere, daily monitoring and health checks, patching, virtualisation technology platforms, shared storage, backup/DR environments, internal project consultancy and managing data networking.

What do the team currently support?

  • The Supports and maintains over 300 servers, both physical and virtual.
  • Manages support for over 50 network assets, including switches, routers, APs, load-balancers and WAFs.
  • Supports infrastructure for 4 offices, 3 data centres and 2 warehouses.
  • 24/7/365 support of company websites both .NET and ATG-based.
  • Support Azure cloud-based DR solution.

What will I be doing?

  • Provide advanced technical support for all Wintel and LINUX systems across the business.
  • Provide advanced technical support for collaborative technology, including email and unified communication systems.
  • Provide advanced technical support for virtualization and shared storage environments.
  • Provide support for LAN/WAN MPLS data network, and manage technology partners.

What will I be doing?

As a Mid QA Engineer you will assist the QA team in delivering on all aspects of quality in the delivery of our applications. The role will be focused on business change, the change may require either the introduction of new Wiggle systems, enhancements to existing systems and integration with 3rd party systems. Within a small development team, the role will require supporting other engineers (QA and development) and business users in all matters of quality assurance.

  • Test Automation (C# primarily. Experience of Ruby/Watir would be beneficial)
  • Manual testing of software changes and defect fixes
  • Working with the business to define requirements
  • Keeping test notes and test related documentation up to date
  • Working on larger strategic projects, in order to deliver large scale operational improvements. Typical team mix of junior, mid and senior developers and QA's, reporting to Lead QA.
  • Being an integral part of standard business change projects.
  • Day to day change projects of small to medium size, required to support for the ongoing development of the company
  • Delivering short timescale business change (around 2 weeks or less).
  • Develop communication skills not just with peers and other members of development team but right across project teams (PM's, BA's) and wider business functions (users).
  • Grow knowledge of best practices for test design and approaches. Take responsibility for utilising senior members of the team in order to attain this knowledge, and personal investigation into new ideas as well as established best practices.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • At least 2 years of industry experience in the field of QA, with demonstrable skills in following areas:
  • Writing efficient automation tests directly in a coding language (C# preferable, Ruby experience is also beneficial) and reviewing automation test results
  • Excellent manual feature testing skills
  • Exploratory testing
  • Experience of working in Agile team
  • Collaborating with developers and business stakeholders to define application requirements

Beneficial skills:

  • Experience of BDD approaches to software development
  • Knowledge of cucumber and the gherkin syntax

The role will see you working in a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, to design and improve the customer journey by creating conceptual sketches, wireframes and prototypes and assisting in user research. We are flexible depending on what type of work you are doing. Some of our UX Designers tools include Adobe CC, Sketch, Figma, InVision, Marvel, Zepplin, Axure and Balsamiq

Responsibilities

  • Help to define and improve the interface and experience of Wiggle and CRC
  • Propose and design UX improvements which can impact multiple areas of the sites
  • Design features that fit within the larger experience and flows
  • Create deliverables (wireframes, mockups, prototypes, flows etc) to communicate ideas
  • Suggest and vet design tools and workflow improvements
  • Collaborate with team members across the business and advocate for users and a User Centred Design process
  • Stay informed and share latest on UX/UI techniques, tools and patterns
  • Understand responsive design and best practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of design systems theory and practice

What will I be doing?

The role will see you working in a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, to research and understand user problems by developing and crafting user personas, goal and task analysis, user scenarios, conceptual sketches, wireframes and prototypes.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking user research for both Wiggle and CRC. You will understand a wide range of research methods, when to use them and how to apply them correctly. This will include, usability testing, user interviews, surveys, and competitor analysis. 
  • Analysing and synthesizing research data.
  • Translate research findings into actionable recommendations in conjunction with UX Designer.
  • Challenges assumptions, ensure UX Designers and the Product team action findings from users.
  • Plan, design and conduct usability tests and user interviews. Effectively undertake associated tasks such as participant recruitment, schedule, producing test materials, setting up test environments, and analysing and delivering findings.
  • Create research deliverables such as personas, customer journey maps,  etc.
  • Share relevant user research findings and recommendations with the team
  • Lead progressive, iterative research across agile sprints
  • Participate in project discovery, Help to generate ideas for features and improvements.
